Onboard Roominess

When it comes to spaciousness, the impressive Pilot surpasses many of its competitors in various ways.

Compared with the Pilot’s eight-passenger seating capacity, two of its rivals, the 2016 Ford Explorer and the 2016 Nissan Pathfinder, each seats just seven passengers, while another competitor, the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee, provides seating for just five passengers.

In terms of room for those passengers to stretch out comfortably, up to 153.1 cubic feet of passenger volume is offered onboard the Pilot, while the Grand Cherokee offers only 105.4 cubic feet of passenger space and the Explorer provides just 151.6 cubic feet.

Getting down to details in terms of this inner space, the Pilot provides up to 40.1 inches of front headroom, while the Grand Cherokee offers only 39.9 inches.

The Pilot further offers 40.2 inches of second-row headroom, while the Grand Cherokee provides just 39.2 inches and the Pathfinder features only 39.4 inches.

In the third row, the Pilot provides 38.9 inches of headroom compared with just 37.8 inches each in the Explorer and the Pathfinder.

When it comes to front legroom, the Pilot features 40.9 inches of space compared with 40.3 inches in the Grand Cherokee. The Pilot further offers 31.9 inches of rear legroom compared to only 30.7 inches in the Pathfinder.

Cargo Capacity

As for cargo room, the Pilot leaves all three competitors in the dust.

With the rear seats down, the Pilot provides up to a whopping 109.2 cubic feet of cargo volume. By comparison, drivers will find only 68.3 cubic feet of maximum cargo room in the Grand Cherokee, 79.8 cubic feet in the Pathfinder, and 81.7 cubic feet in the Explorer.

The Pilot continues to be generous in terms of convenient access to all that cargo space, offering a 60/40-split, flat-folding third-row bench seat and available One-Touch 2nd-Row Seats.
